Every Day Counts!

November is National Pancreatic Cancer Month.

Pancreatic Cancer killed my mother.

Reading that sounds harsh.

Living it was worse.

In fact, October 4th was the one year anniversary of my mom's death. I wanted to post about it, but I wasn't strong enough. My sweet friend, Amy, did for me. I wish they would have been able to meet each other.

Even though I come from a family with a significant history of cancer, except for Michael Landon, I had little knowledge of pancreatic cancer.
.
I learned about pancreatic cancer the hard way. So did my mom.

This month, I will post facts about pancreatic cancer. Detection of this disease is very difficult and the cancer is rarely found in the initial stages. Even in Phase 1, there is a very low chance of survival.

This must change.

Not So Fun Fact #1:

Pancreatic cancer is the 4th leading cause of cancer death in the United States.

Please visit www.pancan.org to learn more about pancreatic cancer and what you can do to help spread awareness.

Dear Little Mrs.

Emma,

Happy Halloween!!!!!! We miss you so much. Your mum told me that you were sick. Yuck. I do not like to be sick.

I cannot believe you threw up in the Tumba store. I bet that was yucky, but it sounds kind of funny.

Today we had the Halloween party at Faith. We wished you were there. The Vicor drove a tractor and we all had hay rides. Harrison was Spiderman and so was Hunter. Hunter was the black bad Spiderman.

Hope you feel better,

Love Miss Ashley and Mr. Mike

Dear Emma,

Thank you Emma I had a great day at my school with all of my friends at the Halloween party. Thank you Emma that I had a great time at my school where all of my friends came to my party. (Yes, twice) Sponge Bob came (nope). When you were not there Sponge Bob came to my class. (we are having a problem with fibbing)

Why Emma did you frow (yes, frow) up on the floor of the store? That is all.

I Love You Emma,

Harrison

After this post, Harrison came to me with bite marks on his finger telling me that Mimmie, the dog, bit him. It was Harrison's bite marks. I gave him 4 chances to tell me the truth - usually he does. I Guess that has changed. He is now in bed for lying. What is this all about? Has Emma started fibbing yet?

Our Agency Received Another Batch of LOAs

Of course, we have not heard anything. So sad. Thankfully, I am spending the day with my Minnie Man to distract me. In fact, I did not even know LOAs had arrived until just a second ago. :(

My Sweet Girl at Philip Hayden

I cannot remember if I posted this photo or not, but I just love it. Piper's nanny is holding her and sweet "Fiona" is helping her with the water.
.
I have so many photos of Piper in this dress in both the summer and winter. Oh, what I would give for this dress. Just a little piece of her life from before we were a family. I would happily donate a dozen dresses to replace it!
.
Piper tried to call this morning from Eagles Wings and I missed the call. It has been a week since we have Skyped and I really miss her. Strange missing someone you never met, but I just miss seeing her and talking to Jenny. Hopefully I can catch them tonight.
.
Hubs just called and Harrison is sick. He has been battling a cold for a while and has been sleeping a lot. Apparently he is in bed already with a fever. This is the night I am supposed to work late and I just want to crawl in and spoon with my minnie man. I hope he can go to his school party tomorrow.

Immunizations

Well, the boys have already left this morning for their immunizations. Actually only Daddy's immunizations, but since I am off to work in a bit the Minnie Mr. went too.
.
As for me, I am still undecided. Personally, I am not a fan of medicines of any kind so I am hesitant to have immunizations for things that I really do not think are a big deal. I could be totally wrong! I am getting the flu shot tomorrow at work and I need to get a Tetnus shot before I go. What does everyone think about the Hep shots? Those are the only ones I think I would get.
.
Hubs is reading all about Typhoid and Malaria, but I think that is silly. I know, I am probably cursing myself right now. You know what I want a shot for....the horrible intestinal parasite everyone has been coming home with. I think its called guardia or something. I don't think there is a vaccine for it, but maybe I can have Pa invent one with all of his medical skills.

Gotta run and take a shower to start my day. According to my Blackberry, I already have clients looking for me. Uggggh can't a girl sleep?

BTDT - I need some advice

I decided this morning that I should start to slowly get things together for the trip.
.
I have read a bunch on Rumor Queen and on blogs, but I would like to ask for your help. I have never been on this long of a flight so I do not know what I should bring on, etc. (Little Mrs., I know you are a pro so I need some of your mum's tips)
I am also a TERRIBLE flyer and so is Hubs. We are babies and usually have to drug ourselves so that we do not boo hoo the whole trip. Hubs is terrified of heights, which is his problem. I used to love to fly until one terrible trip to the Bahamas and a worse one to Las Vegas. When the air hostesses are crying in their jumpseats, you know you have a problem.
.
Ok, back on task....

What type of suitcases do your recommend? We have some, will try to borrow some more, but may have to buy something.

Do you recommend packing cubes?

What about jet lag? I have heard good things about the pills.

Would you recommend scheduling a day or night flight? I have heard people swear by both.

What about Harrison? What should I take to occupy him?

Should I bring a double umbroller stroller? Harrison usually never uses one, but we went to the Aquarium the other day and he rode the whole time. Now, I think that if he is tired, we may be better off with one.

How many days of clothes should I pack? Shoes?

I am trying to turn my disappointment over the LOA into excitement for the packing and preparing process. Oh, and I went to CVS this morning and started the "CVS Game." Fun, Fun, Fun.
.
Take a look at the Chip-in total. Keep climbing baby!!!!!!
