Piper QiuHan Lanier

Piper had a very difficult time this morning. Jenny was holding her and the moment I saw her and Piper started to cry, I started to cry. Jenny finally handed her over. It was terrifying for Piper. Jenny had to walk away and hide in another room and it was heartbreaking. I tried to keep it together, but lost it a couple of times. It is just so hard to watch a child be so terrified and upset.
.
I am hoping some others got some better photos because it was all I could do to hold onto her. Once we made it back, she settled down, ate a bowl of noodles and played with Daddy, Harrison and me. I went to change her diaper and she cried. She wants everything to stay on and gets so upset if you try to take off a layer.
.
I finally got her pants off and her diaper was dry. I said "neow neow" and took her to the potty. She cried a heartwrenching cry when I put her on it, but she tinkled in the potty.
.
She is now in bed with her ge-ge's gameboy and her wa-wa (baby). I can hear her talking, but if I turn around she gets quite. She is beautiful and BIG!

OH my gosh oh my gosh oh my gosh FINALLY!!!!!! Oh so incredibly exciting. And oh how so painful for all of you to have to see those tears and that fear - but little does your sweet girl know that she is now part of the most incredible family. Her days ahead are going to be so fun and so incredibly privileged. Hang in there with the tears - it won't be long before she knows how much she is loved.

Congratulations Lanier family! Oh, those pictures bring back Sheridan's Gotcha Day. He was NOT a happy camper and was very hard to hang on to while he was bucking like a bronco. Remember, that kind of reactions is good. Usually means attachment will go smoothly. It certainly was true in our case. Give your two sweeties a kiss .

Wow. I am crying tears of joy for you and for Piper but also tears of sorrow....Bless her sweet little heart for all she is going through. I pray she will feel your immense love for her and be comforted by that.
Thank you so much for sharing!

Hi.
I'm Vicki...a friend of Janie's who is w/you NOW in China. Her daugher is Rivers.
My daughter grieved tremendously when I got her. I know exactly what you are going thru. Don't worry. It will pass at some point. My daughter is 7 y/o (and was on Gotcha Day) so her memories on that day were clear and she did NOT want to leave her caretakers. She was clinging like a monkey, cried for hours, stopped, had nothing to do with me, was "normal", then cried some more. Just know this: It's a GOOD thing that she has attached w/these emotions. It means she has loved and will love again. BUT, it's like a death to some of the children. Hang tough. MANY of us know how it is on a hard first day, or two, or three...
Holler if you need any help, words of encouragement, etc.
Congratulations!!
Vicki

Hi Ashley! Sorry if this posts twice. My previous message got an error.
Congratulations to you and your family! I know it's a day you've longed for but at the same time worried over. I'm so happy you've finally got her in your arms. Beautiful family of four at last! Simply beautiful.

Ashley, she is beautiful! How amazing to see all of you together. She will come around to all of you and be glued to you in no time. Congrats!!!! We too took it slow with the layers and changing from clothes Drew was brought in. It's just all so overwhelming for them but she will feel your love and know you in no time!

Oh my word, she is beautiful. I'm so glad you finally have her in your arms. Enjoy this this time, if you can. If you can't just get through it and get home to us1

She is precious and I know you already know that! What a great picture to see her finally in your arms. I am so glad that you had learned so much Mandrin before going. I hope it has helped. Hang in there!
